Odisha is primarily an agrarian economy having nearly 30% contribution to the net state domestic product with73% of the workforce engaged in this sector. NISARG helps the farmers for more cultivation by giving training on organic farming , also provide various crops for better cultivation. The major focus area of NISARG are Puri, Ganjam, sambalpur, Khordha & Cuttack district of Odisha.
Irrigation
Irrigation is the main input of agriculture without which agriculture cannot sustain its full growth. NISARG also has put step forward to serve the farmers by installing 120nos of bore well in various places like Begunia, Bolagarh, Asarala of Khorda & also Nimapara,Gop, Subarnapur & different places of Puri. NISARG also provides guidance for sustainable water management to the farmers to avoid water scarcity which can directly affect the farming.

Food Security
Hunger has become a global problem of the world. Food security is not guaranteed merely by adequate food grain production or even by food availability. NISARG provide the training to the farmer about effective access to food both physically& economically. NISARG creates awareness among the farmer to use cold storage & different food storage process to avoid food insecurity.
NISARG has prior focus on Rice, Vegetable, Mushroom cultivation. NISARG is also promoting flower farming among the farmers which bring ray of hope for Odia farmers.
Steps Towards Prevention Of Farmer Suicide
Now a days farmer suicide a major problem in India. Monetary issues is the major cause of farmer suicide. Farmer normally resort to borrow from money lander & couldn’t return the amount due to different issue like low production, Natural Calamity, Small size Land.
To avoid farmer suicide NISARG has formed a microfinance project Named VISWASS at Puri district for Farmers. NISARG has insured all its members for economic support; So that farmer suicide may decrease from society. Education about Yoga and aasan also has been provided to create awareness about how to lead a healthy and happy life
